Poverty

I chose poverty because I know people in situations like that.

Essentially, poverty refers to lacking enough resources to provide the necessities of life—food, clean water, shelter and clothing. But in today’s world, that can be extended to include access to health care, education and even transportation.

Poverty is about not having enough money to meet basic needs including food, clothing and shelter. However, poverty is much more than just not having enough money.

There are lots of ways to stop poverty. most of which are social issues. One of the main reasons poverty is still a modern day issue is because of inequality. The biggest inequalities we need to address is gender inequality. According to the UN’s High-Level Panel for Women’s Economic Empowerment, women’s unpaid labor adds up to $10 trillion per year. Another very large factor for poverty is climate change and climate justice. Resilience against climate change is especially important and deserves its own mention. According to the World Bank, climate change could force an additional 100 million people into extreme poverty over the next decade without any urgent action taken.
